there are plenty of studies on the use of steroids taken via inhalers. A fact is that long term use of steroids do the work that the adrenal glands will do. After years of being on inhalers they started to not work as well for me, and my body could not fight off colds and other bacterias. It is a fact that side effects include weakening of the lungs, shortness of breath and lowered immune system. I was rarely sick a day in my life and started inhalers when I was in my 30s. I now am weaning myself off the inhalers, keeping in mind it will take some time to help my adrenal glands to do the work they need to do. I am working with a naturopath and taking herbs that help my breathing incredibly with little side effects. The fellow above should address studies out there on the effects on the lungs, even though the medication does not go to the bloodstream. Remember when you take a medication, a part of your body thinks it no longer has to do the work or function for you.
I gained 30lbs with my steroid inhaler in 2 months. How can you say the side effects are minimal? I eat well and get exercise. My friend gained 50lbs in 6 months .. don't tell me that kind of weight gain is ok because it's not. I threw my inhaler away today and am looking for an alternative. If you think I'm pissed off you are right. Big Pharma liers.
Seems the doctor doesn't have any personal experience in taking steroid inhalers. I have been using Foracort 200 for the past 10 years and now I am facing serious side effects . I am getting infections all over my body, particularly where every I sweat. Also internally I am fatigue, lethargy, and unable to even walk for some distance. I suppose the steroid had paved way for invasive fungal infection by altering the acidity of my body. Please don't believe these kind of bookish doctors. It is better to die of asthma than taking steroid inhalers, because steroid will show is color in short time which will be very difficult to bear. I am going through those difficult times now. Not sure I will ever come back.
Omg I take it and my mom talked about this a lot to my doctor she was worried but my side affect was from the inhaler was getting puffy aka a little chubby but I got it off anyways I take pill every night for my asma control and when I need my emergency inhaler I take it but then I also take my steroid inhaler every day which I take night and morning and afternoon because I have uncontrollable asma which hurts a LOT but anyways am lucky am alive still 😂👍🏻13 years Witt asma since the day I was born I had to be put in oxygen it mostly happens in cold weather 😑
