Victor Antonio, How would you apply the price vs cost to a service .. in my case dance lessons ? I think I know the answer but your input would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!
Lee (1 месяц назад)
Funny thing, my business model is entirely predicated on how ridiculous and outdated the old maxim of 'pay more get better quality' is in todays market. Given how technology has created cost saving efficiencies in my field.
day man (2 месяца назад)
Uhhh.. TCO isn't confusing. Do you honestly think that on a ticket item I haven't already looked at longevity, historical resale, etc. before I walked in the door? I want the lowest price on a particular item I want.

Hey Victor, Great stuff. Have learnt a lot and got a lot of confidence. Thanks a ton for it. I have 2 questions for you: 1. In services how do we justify cost and price technique 2. if the prospect breaks down the pricing into parts saying this thing costs fir this.kuch and that thing costs that much alyhen you are charging too high and earning lot of profit from it. How to tackle that?

So what you're doing there is basically focusing the clients attention on the quality of the product and taking his attention of the actual price. So what that does is that right now the quality becomes more important to him than the price which makes him more likely to buy. Brilliant.

Mritunjay (4 месяца назад)
Aight, Thanks Victor :)
Victor Antonio (4 месяца назад)
That may be true for a small percentage of buyers, but I argue that their "paying capacity" is limited by the "value" you presented. Said another way, unless they're dead broke, maybe you're not showing them the value of "why they should buy". Just my opinion :-) VA

The price vs cost is brilliant thinking but how do you defend this if you sell SaaS solutions where a client pays, say quarterly ? SaaS / subscription models usually costs more over time to the client.
Victor Antonio (5 месяцев назад)
FF, "... SaaS / subscription models usually costs more over time to the client." I don't know if I agree totally. If I had to buy upgrades every year or sign a maintenance contract, that would cost more. Maybe we need to remind the client of the alternative? Thoughts? VA

how do I sell a product that is just new to the market and the price is high?
T M (7 месяцев назад)
Hi mr antonio, greetings from India, how can mr zig ziggler sell a mobile phone or any product of same company eg iPhone, given ur eg of price or cost ? As the standard warranty provided by the company irrespective of the seller is the same, no seller now sells us a underrated product. So again what if the customer asks :" your price is too high other seller is offering me a better price ? Vodafone offers 1220$, ATnT offers 2000 and Verizon 1250 How would a ATnT person sell that product to the customer asking the question, Dont take in consideration the calling, sms, data plans.

Customer: Your price is too high You: Mr.customer, is it price or cost? Customer: What is the difference? What do you mean? You: Give an example (Zig Ziglar, in his book "Secrets of closing sale", then ask: Is it price or cost, Mr.Customer? You: A lot of people can beat us on price, but no body can beat us on cost That shift the customers' thinking from price to cost

Hello Victor, I own a small scale B2B business (we manufacture production machineries). You have always stressed on emphasising values of product over price, But in our case, customer on first call itself (we have to approach all customers over call only, since its not possible to visit them all over the country), they ask for us to mail them technical specifications and price. After which they never seem to understand why our prices are higher. We offer best price to quality ratio in the market. What do you think I should do in this case. Love your dedication and hard work.

Ian Brown (9 месяцев назад)
A car is not a bike. If a car of similar year, make, model, and mileage has a price that is higher than resources say and/or higher than another dealer sells it for, or you are selling it for a spring price when it is nearing the end of the year; then the price is too high. It has the same chance as any other similar vehicle of costing "x" amount of money. The analogy works if you say a newer car with less miles might "cost" you less, but the price will be higher. Did you know that in many cases you are better off with costs than you are with a higher price?
Ian Brown (9 месяцев назад)
I disagree Victor. This psychology works great on shoppers that don't know what they want and/or haven't done any due diligence on price and value. It doesn't work very well on those whom have made themselves informed. A cheaper car would also be of less value/price (older and maybe higher mileage). A newer car or a pricier car would have to be newer and/or less mileage. That is where your argument would have strength. All things being equal, a car could be priced above its value by a dealer. That's where the customer would be right concerning the price being too high. We all know that a dealership "does" price his stock higher than the true value. That would be "dicker" room, so the majority of the time, a customer is correct when he suggests the price is too high. I remember buying many $1000 and less used cars when I was a young gaffer. They lasted me six months to a year before parking them for some major break down. That's $90 to $170 per month which was way cheaper than monthly payments, interest, and way lower insurance costs than a pricier used car. Now that's in an extreme case, but in general, there is a line when cost (as you define it) is cheaper than a dickered lower price. Let's say you have an eight year old vehicle with 100,000 miles on it. I research the vehicle to find an average retail price value of $8000. I already know that you have a $10,000 sticker on it. I say, "the price is too high". How does your theory of price and cost pertain to this scenario? This is a very realistic scenario. psychology of the consumer: Now, here's where the dealership screws up: Dealerships take shortcuts and cut corners in their prep shop to save money. This is very good for the consumer if you know this and are willing to go the extra mile. Most dealerships claim to have done a 50, 100, or 200 point inspection. Do they really? in many cases, no! In some cases, "after" you have agreed on a price that is fair, you ask to see the inspection papers/pamphlet that is claimed to be completed for this vehicle. You will find, when you inspect, that there may be only 10% left on the back brakes, or there may be a filthy intake air filter. There goes the retail value down to private sale price. The dealer justifies his higher price based on having to do maintenance on the vehicle to make it marketable. For me, it's dicker below fair, or I walk and tell. This is a true case while helping my daughter buy an SUV. The oil wasn't changed either. It was embarrassing for the salesman (the intake filter was plugged badly, as it must have been off road a bit). Now argue cost and price when it's gonna cost before you even leave the lot. So I make a deal, shake on it, then find that the dealer's vehicle isn't up to standard. A game for a game. How does it feel Mr. dealer? Dealerships are out to sell cars and make as much profit as possible. By volume, price, playing psychology on the last customer on the trade-in, playing psychology on the new customer, or cutting corners on maintenance. You will probably find something if you take the time to check the vehicle out and pull a few things that were claimed to be a part of the inspection. If t is a major fail, the dealer loses the profit. Yep they will offer to change the back brakes, but that's not what it is about. The vehicle hasn't been inspected or brought up to the standards of the dealership, and can't be trusted to do so. Summary: Don't play games with synonyms (words that mean the same). If the price is too high for dickering reasons, bring it to market value. Do the inspections that justify a higher dealer price. There are many YouTube videos that teach sales people how to trick the customer. You are all letting the consumer know that you are treating us like we are stupid.
Victor Antonio (9 месяцев назад)
Hey Ian, the analogy still applies. If you buy a "cheaper" car that constantly breaks down, then the "price" in the long run could be higher. You're right in what you say and there are many "scenarios" we can suggest, but my point is simply, don't focus on price,...focus on the "Total Cost of Ownership".

Hello Mr. Victor Antonio. A client of ours owes us a lot of money. But he is a very valuable client we cant afford to lose. How should our company tackle the situation. Are sales techniques useful here.

Tejas Desai You sound desperate for your business to go well. Obviously you lack customers. The client is taking you for a ride. You' re too nice to the client and they're taking advantage of the fact that you need them. Something is not right.
Charles Graves (5 месяцев назад)
I was about to say the exact same thing as Victor. You should do it politely and respectfully, but there’s nothing wrong with asking for money that you are owed. And if they get angry and offended that you dared ask for money that you are able to, then they are not actually a good client. And if you don’t have enough good clients that you end up needing this bad client, then you probably should fix your product or advertising or sales
Tejas Desai (1 год назад)
Thank you Mr. Victor Antonio. I will take action as you suggested.
Victor Antonio (1 год назад)
A client that doesn't pay their bills, can't be a great client. It's hard for me to suggest an approach without knowing the context. My easy answer would be to remind him, via invoice that monies are due. Another way of doing it is, next time s/he is ready to make a big purchase, ask them to 'clear' the existing accounts receivables. Or, ask him/her that you need to close out invoices that are more than XX days old. It's a tough one, but don't be afraid to ask for your money :-) VA
