there were a few cases of chimerism where it happened to two different women who had children and in their genetic blood work their children were not biologically related to their birth mothers , it was found out that both women had the ovaries from their absorbed twin.
My friend showed me this and asked me if I have this because all my allergy issues and the fact they can’t figure out what I’m allergic too or why I keep breaking into hives only on my arms and legs. And Medicine can act funny with me, medicine that says “may cause doziness” for me that means I’ll be out for 10 to 12 hours. And if I take medicine for over time my body is use to it and it stops working soooo maybe! My moms doctor did think she was pregnant with twins but it was just me!😂😂😂😂
Wow, you have two immune systems , so you must be resistant to diseases, right ?
No, one of my immune systems fucks with the other one and the entire thing fuck me up completely and I'm resistant to nothing.
She’s been making the rounds on talk shows. Yes, she is pretty outside. She also really enjoys the attention. I don’t know what kind of person she is because I don’t know her, but maybe all this screen time is helping her career?
No, she won't "pass on" her chimerism. But it will mean that her kids' DNA will match whatever set of DNA her ovaries are and not necessarily any other part of her body. Which has caused problems for women who are told years later that their children, whom they gave birth to, can't really be theirs (based on a blood test). A woman nearly had her children taken away because the court assumed she must have kidnapped them.
I was told shortly after my daughter was born they said the placenta was twice as big as it should have been for a child her size so they ran tests on it and found out she was a twin I was told that she absorbed her twin . She is now 7 years old and is a normal child looks normal acts normal but she has two different personalities. But I would not change her for anything in the world she's my pride and joy.
When I saw her picture, I immediately knew her condition. I've read about it decades ago, and even saw an episode of CSI, in which a killer's DNA from body fluids on his victim didn't match that from a cheek sample collected by the lab technician. He had a tell-tale pattern on his back when exposed to black light. Grissom solved it much faster than Taylor's doctors -- under an hour. :-)
In Greek mythology, the Chimera was an awesome fire-breathing monster with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. The Chimera was killed by the hero Bellerophon mounted, in most versions of the tale, on Pegasus, the winged horse.
My cousin absorbed her identical twin. It's interesting though, because my aunt had two sets of twins before, and would have had 3. But my cousin is the only one of her siblings to not a have twin when born. So it's kinda sad, but she's special I guess.
The tests will not just benefit the doc and the genetic companies. A few others must habve this condition and will benefit as well. This is an opportunity that could benefit more then the lady and the docs. Who can predict how this can help others as well.
It's so amazing that because of her doctors are able to become even more educated and more aware of this because I bet there are thousands of people with this and may struggle with it or may not even know. I love how the doctor said "we're still learning a lot". Because it just goes to show that we as humans never stop learning.
Taylor you're so strong, beautiful and have such an amazing personality! I absolutely loved your story! 💗💗💗
I read up about this a while ago. I first read about it in a case where a son was taken away from his mother due to their DNA not matching (not sure why they tested it to begin with, but its irrelevant). She went through years of legal battles. Eventually, one doctor thought to test her womb, and it had a different set of DNA, which matched her kid.. Insane.
thebunnyfoofoo that sounds similar to one i watched with the lady with the kidney transplant but the other was a lady who was applying for govt assistance and when the govt office received the test results it said that he was the father but her DNA didn't match the kids. They were going to prosecute her for fraud. They finally believed her when she delivered her third child they made someone be present to take a blood sample from the new baby. It also tested not a match to her DNA. They finally dropped the charges and she got her older two kids back.
justin hyland the reason she was being tested is probably one of two stories (because I have heard two different cases of this). One was a custody battle, and the father wanted a DNA test son done to prove it was his child. The test ended up showing the mom's DNA didn't match. The other case happened when a family member needed a kidney transplant, and the test was showing the mother had different DNA than kids.
Taylor Muhl, how are you getting on after the genetic testing? Also since you have two immune systems, is there a way for them to separate the two and kill off the one (your sister's) with chemo? I don't know if it's a left/right thing, but I was just wondering since you have the line down your stomach.
Title suggests she gets answers to all her questions - doctor tells her everything she already knew and offers to study her. Cool. Everything about this felt staged and useless anyway - just a production for the show, of a girl with something really rare, who could already get better care than this dumb show could offer. Just a good ratings and views draw by pretending she wanted their advise. Lol, fun.
what makes you assume that? Also the docs want to do extensive testing and make a special plan for her to combat her immune issues, some peoples insurance would charge you out the ass for any of that...Free and helps science? Win win
Taylor Muhl please Keep giving awareness we all need to know about these new ,rare , different things that happen to the human body. Please let us know what happens with the Genetic testing. I'm eager to hear more about it.
My very first thought when I saw this was of the episode of CSI where a suspect has chimerism and it messes with the DNA evidence they needed to convict them until Grisham notices the faint outline of a spine on the suspects back and it leads him to the discovery and eventual conviction through further DNA testing. It makes sense that this could be another marker of the condition too but it's weird to see it so obviously defined like that, fascinating stuff! The human body and its many complexities and systems never cease to amaze me sometimes...
Having 2 DNA's is extremely deadly, her body would constantly be rejecting her twin's DNA. It's like getting a blood transfusion and becoming critical because the body won't accept the new blood. She seem's quite happy, bless her.
I saw a movie years ago where a doctor had this medical condition and he was raping and killing women but they couldn't prove he done because he had 2 different DNA's. It was supposed to be based on a true story. He knew he had it because he was experimenting on himself.
I saw a documentary on this called Chimera: The Twin Inside Me (Medical Documentary) - Real Stories where a mother and her children got a DNA test and the children's DNA didn't match the mother's. She was going through a divorce and the father needed a DNA test as well. Even though she had pictures of the birth to prove and everything, the lawyers and other people didn't believe her.
"When my mother was pregnant with me, they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later, they discovered that I had adsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No, I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby. " - Dwight Schrute
