Time for power mods?!
Iastiven (22 дня назад)
Road and Race The standard map is too lean upto 5K rpm, so they are particuarly sluggish under that, so a remap to sort that is well worth doing for that reason (RS Tuner devices are a popular way to sort this) but despite loads of companies making false claims otherwise it wont increase the top end power figure significantly. Along with an induction kit (i would do this before the engine remap)
Road and Race (22 дня назад)
What do you suggest?

Wow, I'm jealous how easy it was to remove those rear discs. When doing mine I discovered I had a bent o/s stub axle and I had to hammer the shit out of the disc to get it off, nightmare

I'm addicted to this Clio journey. I want more.

Why not tested again the 0-100 after the weight reduction?

No, it’s Neil. Gary is Car Focused. Thanks for the kind comment.

Road and Race are you Gary? You were very quick to answer🤣 keep going with this project, it's very interesting

We didn’t have time but will will try to do it in the next video.

Really loving this guys... well done. I sold my 182 last summer having done the belts/dephaser etc... and your series is making me question what I did (!) Anyway, speaking of questions... here's one... if I was building a track car, fitting a full cage would be high up on my to do list. I guess that may be because I come from a motor racing background [where a cage literally saved my life] and also because I think shell stiffness is really crucial to tuning set-up. Just wondering why you haven't considered fitting a cage ?
David Neilson (2 месяца назад)
They're not cheap, that's for sure, and they really need to be welded rather than bolted in which adds even more if you need somebody else to do it. You're right to only consider a full cage too. I suppose you only appreciate its value when you need to use it - which we all hope will be never.
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks David for saying so! A cage is certainly on the list and I;d like one but it's quite expensive. Cheapest full cage I could find was £700.

Loving the vids guys Certainly recommend the whiteline RARB When have you booked Bedford for? I’m there on Monday 👍🏼👍🏼
16vKarlos (2 месяца назад)
Road and Race I had a fantastic day at Bedford... however my PAS decided to shit itself 🤣🤣🤣 EPAS here we come
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks mate. A RARB is certainly on the list. How was it for you? Will post on the Community tab here and on Twitter when we book Bedford. Easily a few weeks yet.

To get a really sharp pedal try bleeding the ABS system with Rstuner, made the biggest difference to my 182

I've got a set of braided ktec flexible lines for the front and the ones in the middle that connect the hard lines together, could you guys tell me where you purchased the rear braided flexi and hardlines? ? Love the videos 🤗 good to learn a thing or two 🙂
jordan Parkinson (2 месяца назад)
Thansk for the update guys I thought as much 🙃 enjoying the series 🤗
Chris Beer (2 месяца назад)
Road and Race you were lucky to get those Flexi to caliper hard lines. I got some last year for mine and was told the next month they were discontinued !
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks Jordan. From my research no one makes a rear braided. We simply bought new Renault rear headlines which come with new rubber flexis already attached. I got mine from Renault Parts Direct.
Panagiotis Athanasopoulos (2 месяца назад)
Omg, was it really so easy to remove the rear bearing? I'm trying for over a week with a 12kg slide hammer to remove the rear wheel hub of my e46 330ci..and it hasn't moved a bit... I used a 5Ton press to remove the axle :p ...
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Beamers can be stubborn...!
Car Focused (2 месяца назад)
Panagiotis Athanasopoulos the bearing is housed within the rear brake discs - we didn’t actually remove the bearing, instead we changed the discs for new ones with bearing already fitted 👍🏼
Jon Foz (2 месяца назад)
Have you any plans for changing the standard front seats ?
Jon Foz (2 месяца назад)
Car Focused replies through your Facebook page.Jon
Car Focused (2 месяца назад)
Road and Race almost as much as we paid for the car 👀
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Yes but cant find any that aren’t ruinously expensive. Cheapest I’ve seen is £150 for the seat and £150 for the bracket. Not paying £600 for seats!
Car Focused (2 месяца назад)
Jon Foz that’s the plan, or at least the drivers seat anyway.

I know that feeling of having a toy car that feels like that and eggs you on to drive like a hooligan! Loving it lads! My mate and I are in the process of building up a £500 MX5 racecar - We're in East Anglia. Bedford autodrome trackday collab? XD

I noticed a much sharper pedal after fitting the braided lines, I’d recommend looking into a rear anti roll bar, it really improves the handling. Whiteline make some or pure motorsport.

Ratcheting pipe union spanners already exist 😉
Coldfin9er (2 месяца назад)
Not really, could quite easily spunk a few grand on conventional N/A tuning (exhaust, cams, head work, engine balancing, hours of dyno time and so on) and only see realistic ~20% gain. Boost is an easy way to get a good increase, especially for a track car. ITB's are also a viable alternative. I know someone who saw ~240 with ITB's, cams etc and the car sounded epic! Probably spent the same if not more on that set up. One things for sure, it's a slippery slope when you start seeking power out of French hot hatches!
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks for the tip. £2500 is a bit pricey for just 50 hp though?
Coldfin9er (2 месяца назад)
When it comes to power upgrades, check out Engine Dynamics (used to be BB Tuning back in the day - known for R5 GT Turbos), DIY turbo conversions for £2.5k which isn't bad considering it includes a turbo and tune. Gets around 230 horse on low boost on std engine, tune is reliable too, done by Scoff from EFI Parts. Good starting point. F4Rs like boost!
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks. Will check them out!
Coldfin9er (2 месяца назад)
Couple of fairly inexpensive options from Sealey. Look up either VS0342 (VS0343 for the set) for manual ratchet, or VS0347 for mechanical ratchet. I'd still use the conventional pipe spanner to crack it though 🙂

Using old pads on new discs. Very smart 😑
MIW lewis MIW Motionless In White (2 месяца назад)
The only concern with putting used pads on new discs is that the pad face can be glazed after a few heat cycles. It can distort and warp the pad face to the shape of the old disc. Which can in tern cause a lot of run out on the new brake discs if kept driving on them. I see a lot of this at my workplace as we have a brake disc skimmer. But that is in a few rare circumstances. I enjoy the videos though keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Car Focused (2 месяца назад)
MIW lewis MIW Motionless In White pads had plenty of life in them. The main reason was to get the bearing replaced.

Don't worry, it's fine.

Mony Torris it’s thrown up a warning light twice, but it soon went out. Brakes as it used to so guessing it’s not an issue 😀

Ktec exhaust, Cooksport springs, Cup shocks, Brembo HC discs & Mintex M1144 pads, HEL brake lines, Lemforder tie rod ends, Powerflex upper and lower engine mount plus dogbone and every other bush poly'd, Whiteline arb, Valeo clutch...Quite a list, all done by the previous owner who was a moderator on the clio sport forum and a mechanic, a great combination! The Yorkshire Dales beckon this weekend for some serious bonding time. What date you doing Bedford? May join you...

Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks Alberto!
paul j (2 месяца назад)
sorry if this is obvious but why do you use a bar on the brake pedal when working on the brake lines, surely that's adding pressure thus pushing out brake fluid, which is different to what you said. TIA and great video
Road and Race (2 месяца назад)
Thanks Paul. Dunno exactly why it works but it does. I think it holds the master cylinder shut so the fluid now can't escape from the fluid reservoir.
