It's those unforseen roadblocks that put a crimp in things sometimes. Like your vids Rick. What state do you live in? Maybe if you're close to Georgia we could have a cold one sometime. Keep up the fun vids.
Princess Auto is the best place in the world! The ultimate man's store! My ex used to hate when we would stop there, because we'd end up being there for over 2 hours because she could never get me to leave lol! BTW, Canadian Tire has that exact tool on sale every third or fourth week for around $30. I was going to pick one up last time it was in the weekly flyer, but I forgot. However I'm getting one next time it's in the weekly flyer again! :) Anyway, cheers Rick! I love your video, I love your attitude, and I love your laugh!
Harbor Freight is the USA's purveyor of the finest cheap Chinese tools ever made for one time use. If it does not break, strip, or piss you off enough to make you want to force it through the toilet P trap, and send it offf to turdland, consider it a bonus for ya. I wish Horrible Freight still carried the GM door spring compressing tool, but I had to dump $15 on Amazon for one, and the bearing washer went to shit on the first spring, so run down to a real hardware store, buy a cad cut hardened washer and some WD40, and the tool is actually worth the $20 you spent now.
I've seen some fabricated backyard tools like that before. known a few small mom and pop shops who have fabricated tools from machine. they been some of the best shops I've seen. not your high school kid ones literally older pros.
Instead of making making things work right, they just keep getting dumber and making everything more complicated. I wonder who the fat-assed genius who probably never held a tool in their hand yet sold that idea to the automotive industry was? Couldn't put a through-bolt or similar in it...no-o-o-o! Now we need more tools just to overcome a lazy engineering solution. Stupid. Just plain stupid!
Great vid, though. Thanks for sharing!
You had a slip of the tongue I suppose because if that extension is 1/4" ( I heard you say "quarter inch") then you must be a micro midget ! That has to be 3/8" me thinks seeing it in your hand for scale... That is a great tool though! I would not mind having a set of them in various diameters from way small to large. Course that is why I possess more tools than I even keep track of! Overboard on ammassing them! It is SO gratifying however everytime I pull some tool out that makes an otherwise difficult to impossible a piece of cake...this one sort of reminds me of (though reverse) of my set of "inside pipe wrenches" that you slip into whatever threaded pipe won't come out and you just tighten the expander dogs and then vioal! The difficult becomes easy! Another favorite that comes to mind is my standar bearing race pullers consisting of two halves with machined beveled edges and super grade bolts and nuts that will force the beveled edges between a bearing race and lip pulling it off like nothing else in the world could! Reminds me of your tool because of the same idea with dual bolts...
