I learned so much. The meal plate is super helpful. I have access to my own farm raised, grass fed, free range: eggs, poultrt and livestock. But like you said, you can use a tiny bit of meat for flavor in soup or stew. Easily 2-5% of a stew being meat will add plenty of flavor. More importantly, I am losing weight from being severely obese. And eating lots of vegetables helps me deal with my eating addiction (I have an addiction to the process of eating.) Your talk has taught me so much. I love that I can eat all these nutritious foods and feel full and feel great.

Carbs and sugar are the enemy! High fat, moderate protein and low carb aka KETO is the answer especially when paired with only eating one meal a day!

this guy has a thing with cocaine...probably was an addict at one time. he's good though. there is a consensus about eating whole plant based foods. short term ( a week or 2) fasts done a few times a year I'm sure is very helpful as well.

I'm with him and it's my guess that eating in the way he advocates would help with many preventable diseases...and may even help some people prevent cancer but to say it would prevent cancer like it's a scientific fact isn't true. from what I've read over the years the cause of cancer is multifaceted and resists any simple explanation or answer. and while I'm sure that eating like he's promoting as a lifestyle would help diminish heart disease, diabetes and cancers such as colon and prostate etc there are people with coronary heart disease who will die from that disease no matter how well they eat and consumes the right foods each and everyday. I am far more likely to take someone seriously who is more humble and understates his case rather than making blanket answers. there's no need to overstate his case. his lifestyle diet would benefit everyone and prevent much diseases and bodily symptoms of so many physical and psychological disorders.

Oils are bad. Remember that Esselstyn is taking a super hard-line stance because he won't accept or tolerate any deviation with his patients since most of his are REALLY in bad shape.

Nutritarian is my new word for the year. When my physician suggested I go on a statin drug to decrease cholesterol, I asked, "What about trying lifestyle change. I'm already on a low cholesterol diet. I need help learning how to get adequate nutrition through a vegetarian diet." "It's not likely to help you given your family history. But if you insist, check the public library for books written by Dr. Dean Ornish. He provides a good guide." I had my cholesterol down within one month. I changed to a plant-based diet and increased power walking from 20 minutes a day to 30 minutes a day. I was not as strict as Dr. Ornish as he avoids adding any oil to the diet--not even nuts. The diet recommended in this video has many similarities. However, I do like adding healthy oils to my diet. I enjoy making homemade dressings. It would be great if you posted some of those ground nuts salad dressing recipes. I can't find any in my Google search so far. I may need to experiment with blending my own. I already made a yummy seasoned avocado mash for salad dressing. It also tastes great mixed with quinoa. Does anyone have any salad dressing recipes to share that has no other oil than nut puree?

Key is to buy as fresh as you can but unfortunately many grocery stores buy from the same suppliers. Just this week 1/10 I noticed both Whole Foods and others had packs of lettuce that touted their "picked on date" but it was the week of 12/18. Ugh..... I just make it a habbit of buying 2 to maybe 3 days worth of produce at a time. I blanch and freeze a LOT of veggies too.

though I am a fan this knowledgeable expert I disagree that we could end cancer with better diet, 60% of cancers are due to random genetic mutations, so diet wouldn't fix that, even if you look at the healthier population in the world with the best diet, they still have cancer. If you compare the country with highest rate of cancer, Danemark and the one with the lowest , Japan , the rate of cancer is only twice as low in Japan than in Danemark showing that external factor have limited effect on the risk of cancer. When it comes to Heart disease it is a completely different story, the highest rate of heart disease , Ukraine and the lowest, Japan again there is a factor 10 between the 2 countries in term of fatalities by heart disease, showing that environmental factor has a huge effect.

Recreational eating . Cake diet. Some of us do not know what hunger is . I feel good with this plan, loss 30 lbs real fat weight in 3months . People like it but when you tell them what you do ,all I hear is I will join and never did. Thanks for the information and be careful out there . actually I've been a ketogenic dieter /carnivor for almost 6 months. I'm not gonna lie it changed my life in so many ways , lost plenty of weight fixed a lot of my binge eating problems you can't do that with a high fat diet. and I left sugar and most of the fruits for along time and I can control my hunger in a sense I know when i'm hungry and I know when I'm not. anyway, the shocking thing is that I started a vegan diet yesterday :) , it's still hard to eat alot of fruits and carbs my brain still refuses the change but I believe that with a good vegan /vegetarian diet and treat with meat every month is pretty damn good. my whole family still eats meat and dairy but I'm not forcing anyone to follow me. anyway, let's hope I do good on it. I really miss being healthy and feeling good in a long time now.

This came at the right time when I was waiting on a sign which dietary lifestyle I should follow for good. I have been on the McDougall diet, the Paddison Prgormamm for rheumatoid arthitis and on all raw vegan diets. I lost 88 pounds on a almost all raw food diet, then included more starches again and gained back 20 pounds over the last year. My rheumatoid arthritis got better, but never went away all the way. There is still inflammation going on. I am currently on 5mg of Prednison. I have started doing sports in 2015 and went to my local dojo. I started Aikido. I went went on, even when I was in a lot of pain sometimes. I knew, I could do it somehow and that there was a way for me to get well all the way. Now that I have found you and the nutrition diet and the aphorisms you used wth the belt colours, I knew I have gotten my sign. I just made my orange belt in July. Now I know, that I can go all the way and also get well too. Thank you so much.

I believe sad diet made me sick. Is there good American diet that will unsick me? I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes,high bp, high cholesterol,osteoporosis,etc. ,and was prescribed 2 diabetic drugs,bp pills, alendronate,iron pill,cholesterol pills. I suffer probably side effects of any of the pills I am taking like nosebleeding,unsteadiness, headaches, shakiness, etc. My doctor told me to take over the counter drug to relieve my stomach problems. I am tired of taking drugs that made me feel sicker. Any alternative solution I can do to stop my problems(diseases' issues? Thanks for any recommendations.

Fast for 16 hours, then eat all the nutritious foods in an 8 hour window. Like eat after 11am and stop at 7pm. Your body will be repairing bad cells during those 16 hours.

If you cook and cool white rice and white potatoes you will drastically increase their resistant starch. Plus white potatoes small white potatoes where there's a high skin two flesh ratio have a much lower glycemic load than these humongous potatoes grown for McDonalds. Potatoes are also loaded with vitamins and minerals. And I hope he's being facetious about the gas associated with beans. When I started eating this way I was absolutely stinking miserable for the first week because I was so bloated I look 9 months pregnant trust me there is nothing a fun or attractive or wonderful about eating foods with tons of fiber that your gut biome isn't ready to handle

some very basic scientific errors here... a)glycemic index of an individual food is irrelevant if that food is eaten in combination with fats and protein. b)fats are not immediately stored as body fat. depending on the caloric intake, only excess fat is converted to body fat. I agree with the key principle of controlling insulin, but I am surprised an MD has made such fundamental errors. If what he says is right mediterrenean countries, that base their diets on grains and olive oil, should have the highest diabetes, heart death and cancer rates. Which we all know is not true. Same with Japan, high rice consumption is also complemented with figh-fat fish consuption. Fuhrman promotes some good basic principles, but he is another book salesman trying to make a buck...

Read up on the China study....it will show you the differences between inland rural China that eats mainly plant based diet vs the coastal areas that eat lots of fish. They do indeed show patterns of other issues, especially cancer.

What about protein supplements? Being in the fitness scene, we consume lots and lots of whey, whey isolate, caseine, creatine, fish oil, etc. I already meal prepped for the next day (following IF), but the day after, I’m changing my diet! Already bought me some green beans 😋🙌

Learn to sprout lentils and other things if you can find them (like broccoli seeds). They are raw, way more nutritious and won't cause as much gas as eating beans. Also frozen green peas tend to be very cheap and not cause gas issues. Getting lots of calories and protein on a plant based diet can be tricky at times. Good luck man :) <3

Spread Love If you want high Triglycerides you eat refined flour, cakes, sugar, candy, etc. You don't want high triglycerides. Although high HDL can mostly be genetic, plant -based nutrients and exercise can raise it. Also, niacin.

Last year I 'stumbled over ' the Film "What The Health" and seeing-and-feeling the suffering of the animals I felt ashamed about my decade-long l a c k of consistency and compassion [[ when I ( very moderately) ate from the bodies of grass-fed chicken and sausages from time to time ]] . I decided to s t o p eating fellow creatures, and drink milk no further, no cheese.... I have been following this since then. I am so t h a n k f u l to you and your colleagues. I have been spending a vast amount of free time watching YouTube videos......!!! I am spreading the 'news' . I have bought books ( in German, as my family and I are Germans) and 'dig' deeper and deeper ... while listening to you, as well as to Drs. Neal Barnard, Dean Ornish, Michael Greger, John McDougall, Milton Mills, Prof.Messina. Last weekend there was a conference in Berlin (at the famous Charité) with scientific presentations by leading researchers and renowned medical practitioners , a platform for networking.... This year M.Greger took part again. ( I am so glad that there are over 20 vegan/ vegetarian restaurants in Berlin now.) Thank you for all your work for animals, us humans, our planet. The best Doctor, the best information on food and hunger I've ever heard anyone talk about. I've never been overweight. And only ate when I was hungry. Plus, I've only ever liked fruits and vegetables. what I didn't know was the amount of chemicals sprayed on food. And what Cows eat, (or any other meat.) Another thing I've been made to feel guilty, "because your not eating enough." Thank You so much, for been part of life. sharing "living food, healthy food. As for medication. the FDA, Drug and chemical Companies. along with fast food companies. (Multinationals,) have a lot to answer for.

Whatever I read or listen to about nutrition, I compare it to Dr Fuhrman's information as the 'gold standard,' and if it doesn't jibe with what Dr Fuhrman says - I don't buy it. I've just read Dr Fung's book (The Obesity Code) and I think he's on the right track, but his advice about eating dairy, olive oil, pork belly, etc. just rings wrong, wrong, wrong.
