The Wiilys Jeep should've been the one for the 1940s. Jeeps did come out in the 40s.

There was another iconic 1970s ride. Anyone remember the Lotus Esprit S1? It wasn’t talked about much in the United States until a little film featured it in 1977: The car was called “Wet Nellie,” and the film was “ The Spy Who Loved Me,” if anyone here is a true James Bond 007 fan like myself.

"Who doesn't love pop up headlights" - pretty much anyone who knows how cars work and don't want something that is constantly breaking. There's a reason carmakers got rid of them.
mobycat (2 месяца назад)
I suppose it depends on what you consider "iconic" to mean. I'd put the Auburn Boattail Speedster way ahead of the Plymouth for the 1930s. But then, the Speedster was also available in the late 1920s.
mobycat (2 месяца назад)
1920s - 1926 Ford Foor Door Sedan. If WatchMojo had any clue, they would know that the 1926 Ford is STILL A MODEL T. The Model A came out in 1927.

Have you heard about a place called Europe?
Ben Dawson (2 месяца назад)
The Honda Accord was NOT the decade defining car of the 80s, the ElDorado was not the defining one of the 50s, it was the Chevy Bel Air and the Plymouth Pickup was not the one of the 40s, it was still mainly Ford.
Papai Pal (2 месяца назад)
Don't agree with the 1980s. It should be the Mercedes 380 SEL.

This list is a joke. First you americanize 70% of the list. It would've been fine if you would used cars that were good. Also Miura? Ever heared of that? You know, a revolutionary sports car with a mid engine layout in the 60's. No? Ok, how about Ferrari F40? Nissan Skyline? Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution? Toyota Supra (mk2/3)? Bugatti EB110? No? You put a fucking Accord. I'm speachless.

The car of the 50s should have been a mercedes sl300. The car of the 60s should have been a Jaguar E-type and the car of the 80s should have been a Deloreon
Mark Hofman (7 месяцев назад)
The use of only american cars in the eatly part of the 20th century bothers me. As many european cars of the same period where better both technically and design wise. The model-T i get as it is the start of mass production cars. But the 1920 ford four door is (and they even say it in the video) just a upgraded model-T why not grab a vintage Mercedes, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo or even a Deusenberg or a Rolls Royce of the same period.

Of course European cars dont make it to the list.... Cars like VW bettle, VW golf, MB 280, Porsche 911, the bugatti Veyron and the rivalry of ferrari with aston martin and Ford in the 50s-60s re not worth to be mention... This list is a joke, and a bad one ...

Ork Eng (1 год назад)
Sorry but the original British leyland Mini Cooper Far more iconic than the BMW version
Anthony Ballmann (1 месяц назад)
Ork Eng overall, yes, but as far as cars of the decade, the BMW Mini does fit for the "Iconic car of the 2000s" It caused a sensation when it appeared, it sold in droves, magazines talked endlessly about it, it won awards, and it seem as if every suburbanite in 2005 needed one. So, yes, is the original more iconic, yes, but as for the cars of the 00's, I agree that the mini Cooper defined that era, well, that and the godawful Toyota Prius.
Globglogabgalab for Smash 5 (1 год назад)
Seriously? 1940s and you don't pick the jeep. WW2 victory would not have been possible without it. And the first thing many people think of when they hear 1940s is WW2. Lmao this list is coming from the same money grabbers who said the delorean was "bad". WATCHMOJO really does suck
mortensen1961 (1 год назад)
1920s: Ford Model A. 1930s: Ford Model B V-8 (yep, the Deuce). 1940s: The Jeep. 1950s: Tri-Five Chevys.

Charley Dowd (1 год назад)
The 60s Ford Mustang is iconic in my defense. It began the line of American Muscle cars, such as the Chevy Camaro and the Dodge Challenger.
Ivar Simonsson (1 год назад)
1920s should be a Bentley 4 liter or a Bugatti type 35.
silverbird58 (1 год назад)
model t was the big seller
B20C0 (1 год назад)
70s Trans Am? Seriously? If any care defines the 70s it's the VW Bus.
silverbird58 (1 год назад)
then  the ramcharger / bronco /  Blazer sold well  , with few tv commercials needed
Adam Norris (1 год назад)
The most iconic car of the 1930s is by far the 1932 Ford.
Anthony Ballmann (1 месяц назад)
Adam Norris Maybe, it was the first with the v8, and it sold well, but the 1934 Ford "Fordoor" (Model 18 4-door) V8 outsold it. the 34 Ford fordoor and the 1936 plymouth PB would be my picks. Besides its strong sales, the Plymouth also help to change how cars were built, it was one of the first "All steel" cars, (All steel frame, versus the wood frame common on 1930's cars) the first being the ill-fated chrysler Airflow. It also made "safety Glass" a standard feature. It also tilted the engine, (A first on an entry level car, and first done on the 1929 chrysler) which made it run smoother (Less vibration), run longer, improved handling, allowed the engine to be set further back and made the engine easier to install. It took many of the innovations from the expensive, and ill-fated Chrysler Airflow, and made them standard, and had more features in an entry-level car than anything else at the time . It even had Hydraulic Brakes, which was a new thing at the time! Plymouth was also the second best-selling brand in the 30s, behind Ford. It made many innovations a standard part of cars, almost all of which are still a basic part of cars even today! the '32 ford made a splash, but the increased power output of the 34 ford, the slightly more modern appearance, and its use by both the police, and the gangsters as well! (most notably, the Bonnie and Clyde death car) the 34 ford would be considered a bit more iconic at the time than the 1932 coupe. If you saw a new car in the mid 30s, chances are, it was either a Ford, or a Plymouth. the "Little Deuce coupe" didn't really hit it's stride till the 1950's, when young 20-something "Greasers" bought the then 20 year old cars for pennies, and chopped then down into hot Rods. The 1932 Ford "Model 18" 3-window coupe is essentially what many people think when think of 30's cars, but the 1934 Ford V8 and the 1936 Plymouth PB did more to change the landscape of automobiles, and sold more than the 32 coupe. If anything, despite the fact that it is a 1930's car, the '32 ford Coupe is more a symbol of the 1950's and the 60's with the hot-rodding scene and all. So, to summarize, the 1934 Ford 4-door, and the 1936 Plymouth PB are what I would consider the picks for the 30s.
