The prescribing of antidepressants is so frustrating. I was 18 playing water polo at Cal under a lot of pressuring and finally facing the death of my father (from 4 years early) for the first time. I was put on lexapro before stopping sports and starting consistent therapy. Now 3 years later I want off because I’m in a different position in life. I finally stopped sports for good, I’m studying what I want, and want to see who I am without lexapro. Why would the prescribe this to me so fast!!! I guess I understand it was for my safety and health. But Now I’m suffering the process of getting off. I don’t think these things should be prescribed so fast.

All the people here look to me from America or Europe may be. Anyway,I am a male from Mumbai,India 44 years old. I loved a girl (one sided) in my class of 1996 . She married another boy from our same class. I went into the most severe depression imaginable. Tried to slit my wrist in 1995 and end it forever. I was saved by a doctor. Also contemplated jumping in front of a train but did not have the guts. I did not marry. Then for 4/5 years did not take anything.I am on depression medications since Nov,2002. Firstly was on Sertraline which is Serlift in India (Zoloft in US).I changed it bcos of GI upset issues. Then to Fluoxetine (Prodep in India,Prozac in US) in 2007. But no sleep when on fluoxetine bcos of its longer half life. So in Nov,2008,I switched to escitalopram (Nexito in India,Lexapro in US).It is exactly 10 years I am on it now today. From 2008 to 2016,I was on 10 mg Lexapro. Then tapered to 5 mg in 3 months in 2016. Since 2016,I am on 5 mg . Since 1st Sept 2018 ,I am on 2.5 mg .... OK. I stopped it 10 days ago. After abt 5 days ,I didnt have brain zaps etc but had a burning headache in the frontal part and also overall. Also I felt as if i had fever, chills. Other than that,I was restless. I kept walking at home ...very restless. My father asked me what has happened to you suddenly ? I couldnt take it anymore. I took first dose of 5 mg that morning 5 days ago and again 2.5 mg since next day. With first dose,I was back to normalcy. With such a small dose ,i left it and still i cudnt bear the withdrawal symptoms. Here in India, the smallest tablet is 5 mg. There are no liquid formulations.I wish we had here. Please help me .I have come down to 2.5 mg/day . I read on other sites ,even with this dose, people have had horrible withdrawals bcos Lexapro is a powerful antidepressant.

Everyone’s body reacts differently. I can’t believe that several people are refuting what obviously is helping someone else—i.e. fish oil. I, myself, am having a heck of a time weaning off Zoloft. My doc told me it is “easier” to wean off than other anti-depressants—just b/c a doctor says it does not mean it is true. I have been having all of these same horrible things happening with my own body in withdrawal as some of the rest of you. For those of you who have never had a depression/anxiety problem—I DO have God and am thankful He is there for me. I also know that chemicals in my brain are not in balance, hence my anxiety and depression. Please don’t tell me I don’t need medication. I have been on and off anti-depressants since my daughter’s birth almost 30 years ago. At one point about 10 years ago (when I was contemplating suicide, not for the first time), I realized that I might have to be on some kind of medication for the rest of my life. Fast-forward to now.....I am not sure that the medicine I am on is actually completely working—300 mg Wellbutrin plus 100 mg Zoloft per day. I went to my doctor and talked with her, and we decided to wean off the Zoloft, stay on Wellbutrin for the time being, and am now on Lamotrigine, which was actually originally an anti-seizure medicine. It was found to have a secondary benefit, to improve mood. It addresses depression and anxiety differently in the body than the anti-depressants. Is it working? So far, yes. Do I want to be on it forever? No. For right now, though, I am not having thoughts of suicide. I am still looking at options other than pills to help me. I have been taking many vitamins and minerals faithfully, and those have helped immensely. I have taken fish oil but not regularly. You can bet that I am going to add that to my daily regimen. For those of you out there suffering from the same things I am, keep looking for answers in areas other than drugs. My goal is to be able to get off as many prescriptions as possible and try to manage my anxiety and depression with as many other options as possible—mainly good nutrition and exercise. I may have to stay on some of my medication, and that is ok. Better than my known responses when off the meds in the past—death. Explore what is right for you. Never stop questioning and never stop researching options other than drugs.

"Special cookie" reporting in! I was ALLERGIC to 1 zoloft pill (10mg? Can't remember). Ambulance-to-ER "allergic". Next day, "withdrawal symptoms" —for something I was seriously allergic to. A medical team gave me micro-doses of zoloft (basically 8 days of 1mg to mcg counts) to "wean me off" this trash, and I had to take benedryl and keep an Epi-Pen at the ready (which thankfully I didn't need). Imagine being "quick addicted" to something you're allergic to! (Oh, and I had NO "euphoria" either. I went from "feeling a little itchy" to hospital within about an hour of taking that pill). I can't believe even now that ONE pill required "weaning" to help with "withdrawals" (I guess that's what those horrid symptoms were). I did turn out to be hyper-thyroid, which maybe explains why my body metabolized the zoloft so fast? (Honestly I'd think it would get the poison OUT faster too, but docs say I'm wrong. Don't know.) But having to take something I'm legit allergic to in order to avoid wretched "withdrawals" tells ME that these SSRIs are VERY physically-addictive at the least. No SSRIs for me. (I'm researching for a friend who'd thought Paxil had helped her. And she's struggling to get off them. Her doc actually insisted Paxils aren't addictive, and that she needed MOAR for being so "paranoid". So we're also looking for a "real" doc for her, too, since the FDA is a JOKE to keep this crap on the market!)

Soooo basically I'm screwed...cause my clinic closed then informed me that I wasn't paid for like I thought and I owe a lot of money...the meds I'm on would be 600 a month without help and the ones I'm on all three have severe withdrawal symptoms...to be honest I need meds but the new clinic wont see me unless I can pay which I cant...oh and I just found out yesterday...I only have 1 pill left of my current does and like 15 of my low so idk what to do...without these meds I'm in a deep psychosis with them I can function enough to make it home...most of the time...I've already tried to kill my self 2 times this year 3 times last...and I don't remember ever wanting to I just woke up on the floor or kept my self from something so idk anymore

I've been on Zoloft 50mg for only six months. My psychiatrist just told me to cut down to 25mg for only 5 days and then I will be done with Zoloft. I'm on wellbutrin 150mg and she is upping that to 300mg. I thought it was going to be a long slow process getting off SSRI's. I'm scared to drop off so fast from what people on youtube like you say.

The Nedley Depression/Anxiety Recovery Program really helped me. Also EFT (tapping)--those two were life changing!

there are simple things about nutrition that ppl are not taking in consideration or take them seriously. So taking magnesium 400 an vitamins B (b complex) is very very important as well as omega 3 supplement. vitamin d too. ppl can be cured even with vitamin b3 (niacin) please do research for that... so yeah they do help a lot its very simple very cheap an most of all its very effective.

You are a very smart woman. Thanks for all the good advice you give! You definitely know what you are talking about. I did just like you did and reduced the dosage very slowly. Took me 42 weeks before the last pill. Nevertheless it took me 2 years before I could feel like my true self again. I was on Celexa for 12 years. I think that most of us – and I mean it! – don’t need antidepressants. Let’s resolve our problems by taking them seriously enough to figure out the proper solutions.
Bhasa Nepal (5 месяцев назад)
Lisette Bordeleau , it feels great to hear you say that. Six years ago, I saw a psychiatrist because I had not been able to sleep for about 3 days. And the doctor prescribed me this medicine along with another narcotics. I have been hooked to it though I take the half of 7.5 mg.
Katherine Karen (9 месяцев назад)
Currently attempting to wean myself off of 30mg of Cymbalta I've been taking for the past 16mths... initially went 3 days w/o it 'by accident' & experienced extreme vertigo. Now I am doing every other day ( with doctors permission) just on Mon, Wed, and Fri... And after I will attempt to take my dose every 2 days instead of every other day. It's a scary process, but I am determined, confident & encouraged by others who have already tapered off completely. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and no, it's not a train.

I'm taking Prozac. Was taking lexapro before. It does make me feel better especially with my mood and depression but I also know they are poison and it kills your brain chemistry. Wish I never got on pills. And the benzodiazepines, the worst nightmare on earth.

great commentary! add Big Insurance between the Shrink Nation and the Big Pharma. They are the ones being targeted, to ' help you' as they 'help themselves'. Personally, eating a wholesome, mostly vegan, Raw food and vegetable based nutrition diet avoids a lot of need for SSRIs. Our forefathers and pioneers didn't have SSRIs and brain monkey wrenches. They ate correctly.

You can try benadryl for brain zaps but it can make you sleepy. Claritan is another option which doesn't cause sleepyness
Friendly Boo (10 месяцев назад)
Cut out 150mg cold turkey for bout 4 days now. Been quite miserable but thankfully have the luxury of nothing going on. Terrible brain zaps, any movement in my eye gives me a huge jolt. Overall thinking / talking expressing myself is quite difficult when you feel like your on a roller coaster . Having tendency to isolate myself until symptoms become manageable. Really is a shit show to be honest lol. But my theory is the quicker you withdraw the faster you’ll come back to normal. Right now I’m at the gym , basically the only thing that makes me feel better!

I've read through many of the comments before making mine . I'm a 54 yr old woman who has/had been on Paxil (30 mg) for 10 or so yrs . Like many here , I've tried to get off them before but returned due to side effects . NOT THIS TIME ! I have been off "cold turkey" for about 2 months . Through reading the comments and watching the vid , I didn't realize that some of what I'm going through is withdrawing . ei: cold/hot , losing balance , feeling weak or "fluish" , nausea , dizzy . I did know the "zaps""zings" were from stopping the pills . For me the zaps / zings are the worst of the withdraw . In the head and down the right arm/ hand for me . I was put on these God awful meds for PMS problems which were severe for 10 days a month . Rage , homicidal/suicidal thoughts / feelings . Due to allot of tragedies in my life , may have been a factor too . I do not know but after starting them , I went through menopause and within 4 yrs (at 48) stopped having my period . That,s young to finish menopause . I've decided to get off them for one , am tired of feeling "dead" inside . For me there has been a whole change in WHO I am since taking Paxil . I used to have a great sense of humour . I was creative ei: writing poetry , art . This Nazi med took "me" away . I had no motivation to do ANYTHING . Numb but at the same time felt all this pain inside that never stopped . Numb I say because I couldn't .. COULDN'T ever cry and THINK . My father died last yr . My mother-in-law died 2 months later . 2 cousins have died in the past yr also and not ONE TEAR could I shed ! Since stopping this Nazi pill , I ball like a baby at the simplest things like a sad song and ... it feels GREAT !!! I am no Dr . I'm only giving MY testimony here . I will fight through these withdrawal symptoms because I want ME back . I want to laugh , love , LIVE again . I've had much tragedy in my life too which may have played a part in my anger / depression . These are " outside forces" that can be dealt with WITHOUT meds . God Bless you all in your journey back to YOU ! Prayers for you and hopefully prayers for me . <3

I was on ZOLOFT 125 and Zoloft didn’t work at all for me but my doctor kept upping the dose I didn’t like wean myself off like at all because I was just done with taking it and plus I ran out I’m literally so pissed off all the time, I’m itchy like constantly ,I’m freezing and nauseous all the time and I have a really really bad headache pretty much every day I missed so much school cuz of it I literally can’t take it anymore i feel like I’m dying but I’m not about to take it again cuz it did absolutely nothing for me I just don’t know what to do at this point it’s been like 10 days now and I’m still feeling like this I’d seriously seriously recommend not being dumb like me and just wean ur self if it’s not worth feeling like shit 24/7

I've come to the conclusion that the side effects that we experience and hi I'm going through at this moment period is directly related to the brain period when and withdrawal the brain doesn't know it's left from its right. Concerning regulation of all of the body's systems. All of them from head to toe. I mean even regulating heat and cool. The brain cannot distinguish left from its right hot from its cold it it's f***** up so the body and all the symptoms including the brain zaps and tingling in the in the hands and feet and toes and wherever in the heat flashes in the cold inside hot outside headache whatever. It's the brain it's not the body's withdrawal it is the brain malfunctioning and regulating all the body systems including breathing gastro whatever the intestines stomach everything digestion System complete Lee disrupted. Dizzy and I could go on for years. Yes I do believe it can be a threat to life I did, I did go to the emergency room cuz I thought I was dying I only just found out this information been on it 7 years. Had no idea appeal could do that to you coming off cold Cold Cold anyway. MRIs x-rays you name it they did it yesterday Hospital. Florida they found nothing wrong with me I'm 58 years old I was shocked. I thought I was dying that's why I decided I might as well call them but I'm pretty sure they're not going to be able to help me. I did not mention ssris. But I'd only been 4 days in so I had no idea what was happening. Never experienced it before. Doctors very few people including doctors whether they know or understand this or not I do not know I'm here seeing any comments doctors nurses I'm not kidding you I have no idea what happens to a person when I called Ask a Nurse they said I don't know what you're what the problem is. I was shocked again I'm like please. Then I use the internet of course that's when I discovered the first thing I did was YouTube of course must be 10,000 videos video channels or something related to this topic God help all of you be safe make sure you follow this lady's advice you must have in advance understand how horrible it is doing this. It will prepare you and you will not freak out too bad

Why didn't you just get a prescription for liquid Paxil in order to wean more efficiently and safely? Pill splitting is not precise enough for this drug.

I was on antidepressants for the past 10 years, and I've tried many times to come off of them. I've been officially Cipralex-free for about 3 weeks now after a LONG taper process. It's been very very difficult with the chemical completely out of my system. My entire body feels tense all the time, and I've been shivering and shaking. I've been trying to conceal it at work, but it gets very tiring and I'm exhausted by the end of the day. I've been on 5HTP and VITB for the past few days and I can't tell if it's working. Just looking for some encouragement as this process if by far the hardest thing I've done from a psychological and physical standpoint. At what point does it start to feel ok again? How long for you did it take?

Thank you so much Amy Shea! A health coach told me take Vit. B complex and Vit. D as well. What has been helping me a lot is Chamomile tea and staying as busy as possible with people. Is it true after a taper, it's about the 5th day when you noticed if it was too soon?
Amy Shea (1 год назад)
Val Cox I went about 2.5 mg per taper, and did it over months. The 2.5 mg to zero mg was the worst for me, and it took about 5 weeks before I felt ok. I just felt very detached, also dizzy and odd and yes, I also had those thoughts of dying. I think that’s normal, but if you feel like it’s too much please call someone. So are not alone! It’s hard, probably the hardest thing you’ve done, but stay strong and know that you are worth the effort you’re putting in. Xoxox

12 years on SSRI's recently coming off - on my own. I've been gauging and learning to cut off Fluvoxamine. I realised as a sensitive person, bullying/traumas as a child REALLY get repressed; repressed memories -- they can be such that SSRI's can temporarily help, but without proper guidance or Doctors who care to listen when you say 'something is wrong with taking the meds', SSRI's become like Alcohol, it continues to block that out. And the question is: "Where is the reprieve from all the past hurts and pains?" You almost can't find any relief, because the Emotional Brain is blocked as with Stephanie's story (Thank you 🙏 for sharing your heart with us and teaching us something), but you can;t get off these meds because it's so darn difficult if you're new to quitting it or don't know how to deal with your sufferings/pain. ------ Hence, My story below: I had a lot of 'neglect' as a child and as an Intuitive, I was very sensitive; my parents didn't know better and some of the things they did and said was in fact "Abuse" to my psyche -- they aren't bad people, but parents' actions and communication and Vital to a child's development and confidence. I developed Borderline personality traits (on top of co-dependency issues which I am now learning to be Independent) *Independence is a tricky one -- You need to learn how to Recognise 'You', and is a gradual process. I picked up on Taoism, and its teachings have greatly improved my mind, along with its meditation aspects. I was also fortunate enough to come across Lisa A. Romano's youtube channel -- she has helped change my perspective* As I learned to accept things with learning 'The Tao' from Taoism (and how Taoism does not acknowledge Karma and waiting for thing to happen), I went forth and spoke to my dad whom I hadn't in a long time. Crying ensued of course. The river flows within us all, and that River was once again set in motion within me. Now I'm re-watching this video (yes I've tried to quit almost 4 times before in my life) to understand again some useful tips, and to share my story with those who are going through their rough times. Much ❤️

I have a habit of not taking my pills everyday. Is that dangerous?I do it because I thought that this would help my body not always count on it. I have been taking 50 mg for 10 years on and off. I tried quitting twice and both times were not good. I want to try it again because I want to heal my body. I am in school and trying to work so I am so unsure of when to start.

I have been on and off 200mg of sertraline (Zoloft) for 5 years. The antidepressants got rid of my depression, but also got rid of every other emotion as well. I felt like all my emotions were blunted. Every time I tried to quit, my depression symptoms would come back, along with all the other side effects (brain zaps) and I would go back on them. The problem was I would always quit cold turkey, which is a bad idea! But, at the beginning of this year, I was determined to get off my antidepressants, so I started tapering VERY SLOWLY. During the month of January I tapered down from 200mg to 150mg. Throughout the month I didn't experience any side effects, so once February came around I tapered down to 100mg. I was on the 100mg dose the entire month of February without any side effects, so once March came along, I tapered down to 50mg. I was on that dose for the whole month of March, with NO side effects. So, at that point, I was feeling amazing, having, for the first time ever, successfully tapered all the way down to 50mg with NO SIDE EFFECTS. So, at the start of April I decided to keep going, and tapered down to 25mg. Again, I experienced no side effects, having been at that dose the whole month of April. So, as soon as May hit, I tapered down to 12.5mg. Having been on that dose for about half the month, I started to feel a change in my emotions. I started to "feel" emotions again. I found myself crying a lot, which felt AMAZING! Well, around the middle of May, I decided to stop taking the 12.5mg dose. I was on the 12.5mg dose for half the month of May. Well, as of today, June 2nd, I am still completely off antidepressants, and feel like myself again! The trick to successfully coming off of antidepressants is to taper VERY SLOWLY. Antidepressants do help, but I personally feel like it doesn't get to the root of the problem. All it does is mask your depression. There's a reason people become depressed. The best thing to do is to get to the root of the problem. What is causing your depression? I no longer believe in the whole "chemical imbalance" and serotonin deficiency analogy. That's just my personal opinion. I mean, think about it. When you drink alcohol, it gets rid of your depression and anxiety, right? That doesn't mean your deficient in alcohol, and should start drinking the rest of your life. Again, that's just my personal opinion. If anyone feels differently then I completely understand. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Depression is extremely difficult to go through, but just know, you're not alone! There is hope to one day be free of depression. You just have to fight for it, and deal with it, head on! I know it's easier said than done, but it's possible. Take care, everyone!

I've been completely off of Paxil now for about 3 months after many many years of taking them. I'm just now starting to have a hard time with withdrawal symptoms. Stomach problems are the main one. The only thing that calms my gut is IBGard and still not completely. Not much of an appetite. The thing that I've noticed lately is horrible itching while trying to sleep. I just fall asleep and then the itching wakes me back up. This goes on all night. I'm also sad a lot and lethargic. I've considered going back on them. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?

I took 20mg of citalopram (I think Celexa in the states, but have been living in Europe) for about 8 months for anxiety and depression, and have recently made the decision the stop. My doctor told me to begin by splitting my pill in half to 10mg and take that for 2 weeks and then split again to 5mg for 2 and then just stop. I have a bit of doubt regarding doctor's actual knowledge regarding these pills they give out, especially in terms of weaning off of them. Can anyone with experience tell me if the above sounds like too speedy of a reduction? I'm on my first week of just 10 and have started feeling a bit off. I know that is to be expected so trying to keep myself open and relaxed. Thanks for any info!

Good points but the reason why some of us may have had to take SSRI's cause nothing else worked, so how is it going to work if it didnt work before?
ThePigeonBrain (1 год назад)
On cold turkey from setralin currently ( -__-) No real symptoms, except one thing that is killing me - when I move my eyes from side to side, I hear a sound like a swishing light-saber from star wars, that comes with one or two light "hits" down my spine, like someone is directly tapping the nerve. Might not sound so bad, but believe me, it will drive you crazy, because you can't just stop moving your eyes.

IF you are withdrawing from a SSRI, there is a herb you can take called Kanna that will pretty much eliminate all withdrawal symptoms. Do not take Kanna with your medication but if you haven't taken it in a while and your are in withdrawals, all you need is a pinch of this herb and it will make you feel normal again. I tried this on my friend who was experiencing Zoloft withdrawals and it made him feel 100% back to normal. Kanna is a natural SSRI which is the reason it works so well.

I have been on Prozac 20mg for 7 weeks. It has ruined my life. My doc refuses to take me off the drug basically saying "it's just me." I took Celexa for 7 years and never felt the way Prozac has made me feel. I stopped taking the Prozac for just 2 days now. Can the withdrawal be any worse than how the drug itself made me feel? I'm hoping with only 7 weeks at a fairly low dose, I will not go through hell. I still take a non-SSRI, Wellbutrin, and I'm counting on it to help some. ?? I don't expect replies. I just needed to tell someone, anyone this nightmare. I have NO support system. Thanks

The pharmaceutical companies need to be held accountable for this, these antidepressants are made to keep you dependent on them. It took me 6 mos to wean myself off low dose Effexor. Also, after doing a lot of research, while crashing and burning from withdrawal symptoms I discovered I was not having issues with clinical depression but more a victim of environmental factors which I changed. Doctors also need to be held accountable, for prescribing antidepressants for the wrong reason. A few people getting rich while many others suffer. A great informative video, people need to follow these steps and I wish them luck and it is a tough road. Safe journey to all.

If I can stop using 300 milligrams of oxycodone then 1.5 grams of heroin I think people should be able to stop using an SSRI pretty easy as to the pain is barely any physical pain just all mental. Good luck everyone

I cannot believe how the psychatrist tells the patients that SSRIs are not addictive. If you have to withdraw, it is addictive.
Animalier (1 год назад)
what's wrong with you? Are you 7 years old? Oh maybe you are on one of these drugs that cause "lack of empathy" and "no emotions."
Animalier (1 год назад)
Oh, I withdrew from Prozac and Lithium all at one time. I started to eliminate the Lithium first by about half. The doctor wanted a blood test, which came in as "extremely low." That is when I jumped off all together, firing the psychiatrist, and dumping all the drugs, cold turkey, at once. I was dopy for about a week, then started feeling "normal" again. I would not suggest anyone who has been on them for a long time, like over 2 years, to do anything like that. Your method sounds better than mine. I also began taking quite a list of over the counter vitamins and co-factors, which I will slowly cut down on as well.

I suffer from alcoholism addiction, depression, general anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and panic attacks. All my diagnoses are intertwined and relate to one another somehow so it's tricky to treat them with medication. I am on Clonazepam and was on Cymbalta. My psychiatrist is the only one I've ever known since I was 15 (21 now) and first diagnosed with depression. He is awful and I'm looking into getting a new one. I suffer from addiction issues and abused prescription drugs when I was in high school. Being on Clonazepam is fairly risky because it's generally meant for short term use as a sedative to calm people down. I've been taking it for about 3 years every day per my doctors orders. I am living in a fog but don't remember feeling any other way. It distorts my cognitive abilities and slows me down. buuuttttt... this isn't about what meds i'm currently on, it's about my with drawl from Cymbalta... Last December (right before my college's final exams and the holidays) my shit psychiatrist told me to wean myself off of Cymbalta in 3 weeks after taking the drug in a high dose for 2 years. For about 18 months, my doctor ignored my pleas of low/nonexistent libido and extreme weight gain of 80lbs. I was tearing my relationship apart and I wasn't feeling the drug helping my depression, general anxiety disorder, or social anxiety. My anxiety had become so severe in the last months of being on Cymbalta that I had developed obsessive compulsions to cope with it. The first week weaning off of Cymbalta was alright. I felt a little more tired than usual but nothing major. The second week sent me into a tailspin of hellish withdrawal symptoms. I was dizzy, had vertigo so bad that it sent me into panic attacks because I didn't feel in control of my perception of space, I felt ill every day, had horrible vivid nightmares, and disassociated quite often. The third and final week of taking Cymbalta was much like the second, only I had final exams to take so I couldn't be out of it. I had to put on a happy face for school. I'd wake up in the mornings from a nightmare drenched in sweat, puke up my breakfast, go to school for exams and studying, come home and sleep the rest of the day. The nightmares were the worst part of this whole experience. They really shook me up and showed me terrifying things. The first week not taking any Cymbalta pills made me the most physically sick. I was still getting the drug out of my system so the symptoms carried on. I was exhausted, sad, scared of sleeping, and not leaving my bedroom except to use the restroom and grab food. This affected my family because on Christmas, I didn't want to open gifts or eat with them. I must have looked so ungrateful to people who didn't know what I was going through. One week without Cymbalta and I was prescribed Wellbutrin. It's been about two and a half months and it's not going well. I'm having extreme anger/overreactions that come in flashes that I can't control. Like get me even a smudge uncomfortable or upset in a conversation and I'll lash or cry uncontrollably. It hits me like lightning. During the fits (I don't know what else to call them) I see nothing and hear nothing, it's just pure emotion gushing out of me. I know I have to hold on until I can see a new doctor... I can't go back and see my current psychiatrist, he's condescending and treats me like a number. Please tell me if anyone else has had a situation like this. I didn't know that there was an option to take my weaning slower. I've always followed doctor's orders to a tee, even when they don't feel right. Also, any advice for going to a new doctor? TLDR/ Cymbalta should be weaned off of slowly no matter what. The withdrawal is horrible and my psychiatrist sucks nuts.

No one stops being an alcoholic. It's always in your mind that you want a drink. Even if you're sober and have been for a while. And I told my story to help people no feel alone or isolated if they're going through what I am. That's a little different than whining, pal.

My strategy was different. I did not reduce the dose. I increased lag between taking the entire tablet. First, every other day. After some time, every third day... and so on. Withdrawal of the drug took me half a year.
Piotr Zagórski (1 год назад)
I took Rexetin (paroxetinum). Sometimes i felt onset of withdrawal symptoms. After about 2 hours of taking a delayed dose, I felt bliss :)
MissAlissa15 (1 год назад)
Piotr Zagórski this is definitely only recommended when you have a drug with a longer halflife. Something like Paxil has a 21 hour halflife, so you may feel a crash before taking your next dose with this strategy

Cold turkey paralyzes me zaps on my spine and head, cramps and tightness that locks up all over my back and neck to the head, with strong flu like symptoms flu-like pain n weakness, mad nasea and always vomiting, chest pain, asthma-like symptoms, throat closes up, panic attacks leading to the ER. It's too scary to get off of it. The meds vanlafaxine and paxil ain't doing nothing for me. Really. I should have just controlled my depression and anxiety the natural way, i'd have never had to deal with this vanlafaxine and paxil drug and all it's hell getting use to being on it to trying to get off of it.

If you get head zaps or other bad withdrawal symptoms, take fluoxetine (Prozac) while decreasing Paxil to get rid of those symptoms. Just make sure you're not taking both Paxil and Prozac for more than a few weeks.

i've had alot of family troubles when i was 17+, im 22 now but i've essentially been living on my own for about 3-1/2 years, being 19 and having my own apartment i obviously went overboard trying to compensate for my sadness, mostly chugging coughj syrup once or twice a week for lord knows how long, probably a year robo tripping was the only thing that made me happy, i have not taken any cough syrup for a year but i have not been the same since i starting my bad habbit, all the doctors i see want to put me on some kind of ssri and im genuinely nervous about my feelings getting worse, i have strong suicidal thoughts. at this point in my life i struggle to find meaning in anything, why would i go out and play basketball if im not going to go pro, whats the point? things like that i have not left my house in two months, quit my job around the time i became a shut in, i dont know what to do. Death is the only thing that could bring me any kind of comfort, knowing how happy i was as a child kills me inside everyday

I started yesterday .went from 20mm to 10 mm. This time I will do it ( withdrawl ) slowly (.I have been on it for 10 years. ) the first time i did to quick and i hit the wall and I was so miserable that I had to get back in to Paxil. Now after ten years on this crap my sex drive is gone my libido is gone also. this time I will get off of it or frigging die. This is the most addictive medication that I have ever taken...if I knew then what I know now i would have never touch this crap. Never......Is worse than the illegal drugs on the streets....

withdrawing from zoloft 100 mg and stopped taking the abilify 20mg been maybe 2 months, not my first time withdrawing, crying only makes it worse I notice, it's been pretty hot in the detroit area, I have notice I been having problems falling asleep, wonder if it has to do with body temperature, as since I withdrew I have noticed my body feels warmer, not so much feverish but sorta flashy, also on cooler days I usually am in a better mood. weather my whole life has never really effected my mood till I started taking antidepressants and attempted to weak off. with the zoloft I take half a 100 mg pill daily plan on that for a year than I'll only take 25 mg and see how that treats me

Jess Enkera (2 года назад)
I'm currently withdrawing from 50mg zoloft and having similar symptoms, high body temperature during hot summer and sweating a lot more, problems falling asleep, sometimes problems with oversleeping, increased anxiety attacks and crying spells. Symptoms for me seem to be at their worst 3 days after a decrease in dosage. I have been a bit impatient and have been weaning off more quickly than I planned, but symptoms have not been completely unbearable. Currently on 12.5mg going to completely wean off after another week

Wait, you can prepare for this? Lol I just thought "can't be bothered to wait 30 minutes to orgasm any more, I'm going to cold turkey from venlafaxine". Brain zaps were of course pissing me off big time but everything got better after a couple of weeks
Hema Mehta (2 года назад)
How long were You on medication? How are you coping with it now?
Stevo'sMIDIs (2 года назад)
Around 4 months I think. 3rd day was the worst but it faded after that. I was pretty much normal after a week. For me the most annoying thing was the brain zaps, but some people have a much harder time, I guess everyone's brain is different. Personally after experiencing mild alcohol withdrawal in the past (which is like a 24 hour panic attack) I found it manageable by comparison. Incidentally please excuse the silly icon, I'm not some foaming at the mouth right-winger, for some reason youtube allows me to earn money re-uploading political videos.

I'm 19 and suffer from really bad anxiety and depression. My doctor has put me on 10mg / day Citalopram and issued me 2 weeks off work. Looking at the reviews etc and the struggles to get off I have to say I am scared as hell! I put off taking it yesterday but today I took my first pill. I am shattered! But have been told to expect at least a week of feeling cr** before I will get 'better'. Any advice on taking tablets ? I know it different for each person but I am really nervous and the journey I am about to take.
Daphne van den Heuvel (2 года назад)
I know exactly how you feel. I'm 22 and have taken antidepressants for almost 4 years. I also started with Citalopram. But i always had a lot of side effects, so bad that my daily routine would suffer under it. In February I switched to Venlaflaxine, but i still had a lot of side effects. I was heaving so many headaches and got insomnia. Last friday i quit taking antidepressants. Not gonna lie, i feel like shit. But more physical then mentally. I know it's scary, because i also took them for my anxiety disorder. I mainly have a lot of painful muscles and sort of 'brain shocks'. If you will quit using it make sure you can have 1 week off because your body needs it. But if i can do it, so you can! :)

Many years ago I was on Paxil and it took me almost 2 years to get off of it. It was an extremely slow process. But I want to make others aware of ELAVIL/AMYTRIPTALINE. I stopped cold turkey in June 2015 at 50 mg a day. It through me into grand Mal seizures. They then doubled my dose to 100 mg a day and seizures never stopped its now July 2016 and I have a seizure disorder and am now on seizure meds. I want to get off elavil. It is extremely scary knowing im risking grand mals again.

But im affraid that the depression and panick atacks will come back. Also, since i started with pristiq i have severe back pain and many other points in my body. Im not sure if its muscular or bones or what. But lower back, weist, neck and head, muscle on my right leg, my hips. Everything hurts. I did full RMI of my spine and nothing spesial. Did reumatology tests and have nothing. And Im in pain everyday. SOme days more hops and lowe back pain. Some days more neck and headache. I did massages and nothing helps. Fisioterapy nothing. IFC and TENS at home- nothing. I really start to think its all pristiq side effects. If anybody finds some article about how prostique affect muscle or joints, or bones or tendons please let me know here and pass me the link. Please , im in this pain for so long, everyday. Please. I would be so happy to find out that its pristiq and not some illines or disorders in my body. Thank you. Wish you all the best.

You can do it. I was on a benzo for 25 years and weaned myself off it. Benzo's are far more addictive than SSRIs because there is a physical component.
SciSci Toys (1 год назад)
Yeah exactly, but how?
SciSci Toys (1 год назад)
Because of poop out, it can actually stop working after say a decade or two and then you are stuck with two serious problems, withdrawal and the return of the depression. Also we are like lab mice we dont know the toxic effects of being on these for 20yrs or so. I can't do a water fast cause \i need to take those damned pills daily, on holiday I get a panic attack if I think Ive lost them, you aren't free but chained to this crap. SSRI'scan relax the L.E.S. and so you then have to take prilosec in order to stop GERD/acid reflux, the prilosec itself will cause other probems in time, such as leaky gut, this in turn will affect your gallbladder etc etc
SciSci Toys (1 год назад)
You can taper, Ive been also for 22yrs and now down to 2.5ml (5mg) but the taper is much longer than if youve been on for a few months or a year or two, also I only git brain zaps if |I tapered in the first few years from about 15yrs onwards no brain zaps so even withdrawal is slightly different.

Lexapro 10 my for about a year switched to Zoloft for about 30 days due to lethargy..quit Zoloft cold turkey on week 2 now. Extreme dizziness still apparent, more energy, but yesterday my body temp was about 97 degrees and I felt as if I was out on a December day accompanied by extreme nausea off an on. Dramamine tones down the effects for the dizziness and nausea but does not get rid of the symptoms completely. So what has helped me is warm Epsom salt baths, Dramamine as needed, and positive affirmations playing while I sleep at night. The symptoms are getting less and less I can tell, now I just play the waiting game
