A Year in Space - Episode 5: Welcome Aboard | TIME
I have to say that this man is my hero. I've read his book Endurance at least 5 times and I still read it from time to time. He is the Neil Armstrong of our time. I can't belive some people thought that NASA never went to space. This is a beautiful documentary and it's proof of what can happen when people work together to achive something great.
What is the point of all this? Humans cannot transmogrify themselves to live on the planet Jupiter or travel 10,000,000 times the speed of light to reach the Event Horizon of Our True God: the Black Hole at the center of our beloved Milky Way Galaxy hahaha 🤪. Give me NFL on Sundays with a decent football team and quarterback at the helm, an occasional WENDY’s Baconator (yes, I may be stoopid [sic] but I do realize that high cholesterol is not good for the body, dilly-dilly!], some soulful Jazz music (love you, Ms. Dianne Reeves) yada-yada-yada... Humans are born to die, not live 1,000 years, come on people, seriously... let Nature take its course. Imagine a world where we can prevent Hurricanes and Typhoons from occurring — what a boring world that would be. I am happy to be alive, but will be just as happy to be cremated so that the next generations can experience life as good as or even better than I did. From Sun-to-Red Giant-to-White Dwarf baby, enjoy that Bud Light now, ‘cuz when it’s over several million years from now, it’s gon’ be over, peeps. Don’t tell me I’m stoopid [sic] ‘cuz I already know.
Lol, the Russian cosmonauts are surprisingly vulgar, I wouldn't have expected that. They don't include it in the translation (I speak it) but you need not be fluent to hear them dropping the blyat bomb repeatedly as they approach the space station after about 4:00 onwards 😅

However, I was impressed with the soyuz Commander gennady padalka reason he is the longest human being in space, he is not arrogant, like low self-esteem, gennady padalka, if you see a my comment, I want you to know that I was so amazed at you and you are inspired to me live the spirit like you.. congratulations on all missions have you managed to walk through the ... you are the heroes gennady padalka, ...
Fake as any big screen production from hollywood. Pirates of Carribean looked real suing the same technique. Green screen, augmented virtual reality.... IT'S A FUCKING TAX SCAM. 19.4 Billion dollars a year for nasa, yet our government just shut down again. Stop robbing our money.
Well, almost all of that money goes into the stuff that is concrete and easily proven... The people running NASA are real, the infrastructure, the paperwork, the engineering, the PR, the fucking catering and the THOUSANDS of rockets that have been sent into "Space" are real. You can't disprove that. Rocket launches are filmed and viewed by hundreds of people... I mean this is were pretty much all of the money goes in to, how much of those twenty billion dollars is supposed to be a scam?
BTW 20 billion is nothing compared to other government institutions that are easy to corrupt, like Federal Intelligence and a 700 billion dollar military...
It's just another Hollywood production. Fake globe earth, props, sets, and complete bullshit. Wake up people. It's a damn TAX SCAM. I can't imaging how anyone believes this shit is real. It's a show like star wars, battlestar galactica, . Some of you people are so stupid that you write shit like, "amazing hero's". Get real. Jurasic park looked more real.
Having just finished reading Endurance, this is beyond fascinating visualizing just his habits and daily routines aboard the station! Especially the journey to the ISS on the Soyuz while being "stranded" for a few days prior to docking lol! Exceptional stuff!
If we are going to spend a gazillion dollars on a science/engineering project, we should spend it on fusion energy research. Abundant, clean energy is something we can actually use. A man on Mars would be cool, but not worth it.
It's cool to see the Soyuz being operated routinely during the middle of the trip. We usually only get to see launch and docking. It looks quite cramped with the guys on the side having to sit bent to the right or left. Two days of that would not be fun.
Most of space videos have kind of burned pixels on the screen. Have someone else noticed that?
I wonder if it has to do with those particles wich come from the sun and may damage electronic devices.
Any wonders? Just tought it would be fun if it would be caused by that and we can actually "see" them somehow.
1:36 to 1:42 Why is there ALWAYS a cut camera sequence once they start floating in orbit? Why cant they just keep one steady view so we can watch them go from normal weight to weightlessness right away?
Avoid? I pointed out the logical flaw in your argument: advancing technology does not mean we will revisit old accomplishments in a specific timeframe. I addressed your argument, not avoided it.
Another fault is that "technology" is not an aggregate, linear and deterministic measure. You need to be more specific: *which* technology is more advanced now, by what measure, and *why* does it mean that another lunar landing should've happened already.
Things we've done decades ago and haven't since, or haven't since recently:
1. Designed and operated a Mach 3+ airplane
2. Operated a supersonic passenger liner
3. Conducted amphibious operations involving ten divisions and hundreds of warships
4. Built fast battleships with 16 inch guns
5. Constructed a dam 300 metres high
6. Built a canal connecting two oceans
7. Constructed a new nuclear warhead
8. Built a three-decked wooden sailing ship of the line
9. Descended into the Marianas Trench
I guess all of those things were hoaxes, too?
Not to beat a dead horse, but don't you find quite difficult to believe we sent man to the moon in 1972 and haven't since? Look at how much more technologically advanced we are compared to 44 years ago. To me, this speaks volumes. I could go on, but I respect your decision and just wish you the best. Take care!
+OurGreedyCorruptGovt None of the hoaxes I have read present any valuable answers so I guess our argument will continue on forever until one of us sees the proof that the other one is telling the truth or lying (and we are not going to the moon to check that out, are we?)
