I love how the critics like to say there no cultures in the world that exclusively vegan, but when we look at cultures like the Okinawans they eat literally 97% + 98% vegan but that doesn't count. lol. C

_Protein and Blood Sugar. Meat and poultry are not carbohydrate sources and as such do not have an effect on blood sugar. Therefore, meat and poultry are not included in the glycemic index. Consuming animal protein sources such as beef and poultry should not elevate your blood sugar.

Idiot plant protein is incomplete and doesn't supply the essential protiens , essential because the body can't make them , the misinformation here is very laughable , plant proteins have been proven over and over again to be inferior to animal proteins , all cultures evolved eating meat , in large or smaller amounts but they all got their protein from animals , Also without ever spiking igf1 you would not grow the human body and guess what would happen , wait for it , you'd die

+Andrew G you're fool , plant protien is not as bioavailable as animal based protein , With animal based protein you eat one steak and have all that you need , With plants you need to work out which plants to combine and hope you got them all and after all that you're still missing nutrients which one of the Biggie's is B12 , Do you think humans before the supplement era did what you said or just ate a steak , Fool understand humans ate well designed to eat meat , plants not so much , And the fact is we could not survive a vegan diet before the invention of supplements , A vegan diet is not natural for humans if it was we would have been eating it throughout our history jackass Stop all your supplements and see what happens to you

I feel the same way. Wake-up! But I realize that's unlikely to happen. So I now tend to refer to the future, as a time when there will be, "A culling of the herd." I'm not "mean-spirited", but I do believe that will be the outcome.

I have been eating beans everyday for 3 weeks, never felt so good, my favorite is probably: black beans then pinto or kidney beans.

Scott St Ores Agreed! It can get very confusing, but the more you learn about the body, the easier it becomes to separate the wheat from the chaff! The advice that resonates the most with me is Dr's Greger and Fuhrman. You might want to find some of Dr Greger's videos. They are short, entertaining... and you actually learn something new or confirm old information. It's difficult to make dietary changes, but the way I frame it, is that I had my entire life to eat exactly what I chose. Lucky for me I ate plenty of fruits and veggies, no sodas or fast foods. But even so, it was not enough. Now that I'm older and have seen the consequences of those lifelong choices, I'm choosing to eat for optimal health and nutrition, a lifestyle diet with proven benefit of lowering all cause mortality. That's the Whole Food Plant Based lifestyle! Excellent you have a partner who is on this journey with you! I love chickens and if our HOA permitted them, I would keep a few just to control insects and for their personalities. Best to you and your wife! 🌱

+Laurie Paris I read eat to live a year ago and I most of the time I eat really healthy, there's a lot of conflicting information out there, for example knife's over fork's then I just watched the magic pill. For me right now at my age I'm trying to become totally meat free and it's getting easier. We raise chicken's and my wife enjoys having them. So I do eat eggs. And Dr Furman seems to make the most sense about diet. I'm enjoying life thanks for your help.

Scott St Ores Hi Scott! Spices are beans best friend! Some of them, like fennel, even increase their digestibility. Consider it an adventure! You don't have go no meat strait off, or even give it up, as long as you're doing what you said, which is using it in small amounts for flavor, and not making a meal of it. If getting plenty of leafy greens and fiber with a wee bit of meat, the veggies/fiber will help offset any deleterious effects. I took about 18 months to go completely meat and animal product free. And if I'm eating out, and there's say egg in my Tofu Basil Thai Noodles, or some ham hock in the collards, or butter and sour cream in the mashed potatoes over at a friends holiday dinner, I just go on and enjoy it. But i wont eat a slab of turkey meat. It's only one meal, and I eat 100% vegan 99% of the time, so I'm just going to enjoy my food when I'm not in control of all the parameters! 🌱
