The problem with caffeine is that it “burns out” your Central Nervous System and causes numerous, negative changes in your hormones, which ultimately accelerates aging. The negative changes in hormones are: Increase in stress hormones, such as cortisol -- this means more belly fat. Decrease in testosterone -- this means less muscle and lower libido. Decrease in growth hormone & IGF -- more fat, accelerated aging. Decrease in thyroid hormones (T3) -- slower metabolism and fat gain. Decrease in adrenal hormones -- DHEA, pregnenolone, etc. Decrease in melatonin -- sleep and anti-aging hormone. High blood pressure Honestly, I can go on and on. And trust me when I tell you that when I take a little bit of caffeine, I feel AMAZING. I honestly do. I’m happy, very productive and just more focused. But I’ve done so many tests with it and no matter what I do, within a few days my body adapts, I need to increase the dose, my hormones start to change for the worst -- as does my sleep. And people who I’ve tested who habitually consume caffeine daily, for years and years (like most of us) -- trust me, they have a lot of health issues. BUT NOT ONCE, will a doctor say “get off the caffeine, it’s killing you”. This is because nobody even thinks of caffeine as a drug. And “every does it”. Remember, it’s a very potent drug and works in many ways, the same as Cocaine. And both are “natural” and found in “nature”. But they are not to be consumed in highly concentrated sources, like we do in modern society. Anyway, like I said -- I really like how I feel on caffeine, I just don’t like to deal with the negatives - especially the hormonal imbalances. So, what does this mean? This is absolutely right ! I did stop to drink coffee before 2 months . And now I'm feeling better. But To stop drinking coffee(caffeine) it's not easy , for 3-4 days I had nasty headache , fatigue, letargy... But now I'm very happy !

- 3 years ago I quit soda, I was drinking 1- 2 cans a day, quite easily, - 2 years ago I quit smoking after 22 years - the most addicted by far (or almost) - 1 year ago I quit sugar from coffee, and all snack and generally processed foods, still have cravings though... - I am now trying to quit coffee and thankfully I am in the 2nd week without it. I was drinking 3 - 5 cups a day. This was the easiest and I thing because I had first quit the sugar and smoking. I also sleep much better now...

it would be interesting to see how and where the society would be without coffee. I think it would be very different. Its no doubt that coffee adds a dimension to your life, everything gets a little better. Just as everything gets a little worse until you get your next dosis. I drink coffee in periods, when I feel like adding a dimension to my life, but at the moment I am happy without it

This is interesting but because you don't give any citations it is not possible to assess the validity or value of your presentation. As coffee is such a prominent part of the western lifestyle with all its attendant problem I remain skeptical about its benefits but I think some of your points may be valid. The May 2018 paper in Nature gives a negative result for any cognitive benefits, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-25919-2. In contrast the BMJ meta analysis from November 2017 is very positive, https://www.bmj.com/content/359/bmj.j5024. We have seen positive meta analyses before that have since been disproved though, the J shaped curve in relation to alcohol for instance. There are very strong commercial interests at work here, perhaps they have also skewed the results. Negative causation and other biases mean that the whole issue is still in doube in my opinion and we cannot afford to be too dogmatic. In general the human body works just fine without drugs, for most drug associated benefits we pay a price in terms of risk. I would recommend a plant based diet, relaxation, sleep, friends and family, social integration and activity, no smoking and alcohol, and plenty of exercise (HIT is interesting too) and an active lifestyle. I am not going to recommend coffee or caffeine based on the available evidence but if someone enjoys it in moderaton I won't put them off either. Can we have some citations though, please.

Yes!!! So glad I quit!! 14 years addicted, 2-4 cups a day and I couldn't believe how well I feel now! The first 10 days were hell after that, I felt amazing. I'll never go back! ❤️ It's not worth the anxiety, insomnia, crashing- highs and lows, low impulse control- emotionally reactionary, lack of focus-ADD type behavior and headaches! Not to mention ALL the negative symptoms getting off caffeine .. including gas, bloating and all the symptoms I had on caffeine intensified also including a very sore back and neck, severe fatigue, incredibly tired... Except at night! Yay insomnia!! And headaches. Thankfully which all relieved itself after around 10 days. If it's doing all of this over the years, then intensified after quitting.... There's something wrong! I could most definitely see it affecting your health very negatively over a long period of time.

Recent studies on drinking coffee indicate: Caffeinated coffee cuts mouth and throat cancer risk by 50%. Coffee can reduce the risk of stroke as much as 22%. It reduces the risk of several types of cancer. Decreases heart rhythm disturbance hospitalizations. Decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes. Daily consumption of 3 to 4 cups daily do not show deleterious effects in any studies that I've seen. As with most anything, moderation is key. Pure caffeine may be horrible for health and hormones, but it would appear that the dose you get in coffee is beneficial. 15 or 20 minutes of sipping a cup of coffee on my back patio is a pure enjoyment - morning, mid day or evening. I usually drink it black and don't drink it to reduce the possibility of stroke, diabetes or cancer. Neither do I drink it for the caffeine. (Caffeine doesn't seem to affect me, at least in the doses I'm getting.) I drink it because I love the flavor. The bonus is that apparently it's also good for me.

My kidneys would hurt intermittently for many years. If I took multi-vitamans within a few days my kidneys would hurt many times they would hurt for no reason. I heard that coffee helped and gave it a try, (IT WORKED!) no more kidney pain.

I stopped all sugar. Drink coffee black. Workout every day. 63 and feel great. Blank statements about coffee without knowing exercise habits is short sided. Sugar if the worst thing to eat. Stop eating sugar and you will live a healthy life.

I stay away from caffeine, years ago I had coffee in the morning and sometime in the afternoon too. Also I have giving up eating dark chocolate candy which has caffeine and other junk food which is loaded with sugar. I avoid salt and food with a lot of sodium, I don't miss any of it and I feel good.

This topic has been known for many years but do you want to say that the damage caffeine causes is not correspondent to the dose ? 1 single cup of coffee in the morning does not correspond to 4 or 5 cups of coffees in a day. Wake up at 5Am and drink a triple espresso black. 2. Don't drink/take any more coffee/caffeine in the day. 3. Don't break rule number 2! 4. Don't try to stay awake past 9pm, go to sleep.

My grandpa is 83, drinks 4 cups of black coffee a day, rides his bike daily and does lots of physical work. My aunt is 55, drinks 4-5 coffees a day and functions perfectly. So yeah, I’ll have my coffee (I’m 27 and have no problems while drinking 2-4 cups a day).

Decaf still contains caffeine, just much less of it. All of the symptoms mentioned in the video are caused from overusing caffeine throughout the day and disrupting your sleep cycle over a long period of time. But, of course he won't tell you that, because he's using fear to try to sell his little nootropic supplement.

Doctor can you please explain the following story i have read on internet ? A review article published in the September 2013 issue of “Journal of American College of Cardiology” reported that regular coffee consumption was either neutral or beneficial to a variety of health outcomes, including heart disease, diabetes and death from all causes. Caffeine seems to also favorably influence ED. A study published in the April 2015 issue of “PLoS One” analyzed self-reported data from over 3700 men, and linked 2 to 3 daily cups of coffee daily to a reduced risk of ED.

And then there at many many studies that show that caffeine is not only not bad for you, but is good for you. If the studies are meta analysis, they are useless. The only studies that should be quoted are blind clinical trials in a metabolic ward! Period.
